Forgot password, cannot connect to apple server

And when I boot up there’s no menu bar to see if my wifi is connected. I can’t reset my MacBook login pw with my Apple ID because my Mac says unable to connect to apple server. Can’t see menu bar. All I have is battery percentage and U.S. flag.
