I posted a reply in a similar thread, but that hasn't gotten any responses so far, and I need to fix this ASAP. The problem is that ever since I switched to OS X El Capitan, whenever I'm viewing a PDF, the Apple + F won't find any words over two letters, even ones I'm positive are in the document like "the." Can anyone help?

Hello and welcome.

-Are you viewing the PDF in Preview or Acrobat Reader? Command-F works in Preview in El Capitan for me.
-Also, in System Preferences... > Spotlight > Search Results, is there a checkmark next to PDF Documents. And, in System Preferences... > Spotlight > Privacy > Prevent Spotlight from searching these locations: is anything listed there?

OK...in Preview, don't use Command-F, just type the search text in the Search box in the upper right of the PDF window. That should work and highlight the search words in yellow.

That might be the issue.
