External HD not appearing on desktop

Seagate Ultra ATA 250 GB connected to Mini 10.13.6 High Sierra via Newer Tech (OWC) universal hd adapter (USB 3.0). Was working fine, but quit appearing on Desktop or Disk Utility. The Adapter shows up on the usb device tree in System Information app, but not the HD itself. I can feel the disk spinning and it warms up. Any suggestions so I can access this disk's information again? Thank you ! Jeff

Hi,

See if the external drive is showing up in Disk Utility. If it is visible, then click the option to Mount, which should make it visible on the desktop and in the External Drives option in the Finder menu.

Thanks, Paul. I did the resets. The drive appeared in Disk Utility for long enough to see space used and space available, but disappeared again. I'm temporarily away from home, but will get back to troubleshooting it soon.
