error message and now won't boot

Hi all, u am using a 2010 macbook Pro and randomly got a message telling me that I needed to restart and to hold down power button and then press again.
I did so but now my laptop will not boot, it doesn't get far enough to make the boot noise, please help?

Have you tried using the install disks?
