Dropdown menu and Dock issues

Hello,

Last night I noticed my cache folder size was around 17 gb so I figured I would delete some items inside of it. After doing so, there didn't seem to be any issues except that the folder wasn't restoring itself and my dropdown menus weren't working as well. The menus drop down but nothing gets highlighted and once I've clicked on a menu, I can't hover over any other ones because they don't drop down. It stays on the one I clicked until I click off of it. My dock icons are also not popping up when I hover over them. I'm using Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I've tried repairing the disk using disk utility and it didn't seem to fix the issue. I used bootcamp earlier too if that may be a problem. Anyone have experience with this issue? Thank you

A few questions:

-Which cache folder are you speaking of?
-What sort of files did you delete?
-Which folder wasn't restoring itself?
-Which menus aren't dropping down correctly - Finder or a certain application?
