Desktop blackout when using divx player

This is a little embarrassing and I have no idea how I managed to do this but whenever I click on divx player the rest of the screen turns to black leaving only the video player window visible. Everything comes back to normal when I click away from the video player window but it's still very irritating, any idea how to switch it off?
