I installed a USB to serial port adapter that I need to use with my MacBook and installed the driver. If I go to "About this mac-System report" I see it as follows:

USB-Serial Controller D:
Product ID: 0x2303
Vendor ID: 0x067b (Prolific Technology, Inc.)
Version: 4.00
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc.
Location ID: 0x14123000 / 5
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

Yet no software sees it in order for me to use it. Also I looked in the /dev/ directory and there is nothing even remotely similar to this, though I see:

cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
cu.lpss-serial2

which don't seem right. So where is my device?

?

Hello and welcome.

-Which model Mac?
-Which version of OS X?
-What is the model of the Prolific USB to serial adapter?
-Did you download/install the driver for your specific version of OS X from the Prolific website?
-There were reports of counterfeit versions of this product - did you purchase from a reputable source?
