belkin usb network adapter

Hi guys, i know there have been loads of questions on this topic but i can't find the answer to my question.

I have a belkin f5d7050B dongle and have downloaded the correct driver from belkin. The problem is that the software cannot find the adapter and as a result, cannot find the network, has anyone had the same issue and solved it?

Oh, forgot to say, when plugged in, the adapters light is flashing so the comp has detected it.

ibook g4
osx 10.3.9
trying to find a bt homehub
other macbook can find full signal fine

My first shot would be to plug the adapter into a powered hub that's connected to your iBook. Even though the usb ports are "powered" I've had scanners that wouldn't run on my G4 ibook until they were attached to a powered usb hub.
There might be just enough juice to kick off the led and que the hardware but not enough to to fully support it.

Just a guess. . .
