i mac 2.5 late 2015 mojave w/external ssd and the os is just fine for the current needs, the imac needs a cleaning and expertise here in india is suspect ....could transport imac to the states and have the check up done there, prepared for a possible screen problem from transit and back again to india, dont want to lose apps, ssd ability with purchase of new hardware......within the new chipset frame work does anyone see a possible solution to keeping earlier technology

Hello,
  • Do you startup from the external SSD?
  • Do you have any files on the internal drive?
A good Time Machine backup of your data will prevent any loss during service, and enable you to restore to the point it was at. If you migrate to a newer Mac/macOS, some of the older software may need reinstalled/upgraded.
