Imac is mid 2007 20" 2.4 model MA877LL EMC#2133 Mac was in sleep mode when I heard 2 pops. Now there is no power or start up. I did replace HD almost a year ago. I have not opened up yet to investigate but was looking for clues or advice. Could this have been capacitors popping ? Thank you.

Hi all I can add is it may be worth looking at what the Diagnostic LED's are doing, they are located to the right of the memory slot, under the hard drive data cable.
i heard a whistle then pop from my 27" imac a few years ago, i could smell smoke after. i rang a mac help line. they said to take it into a mac store. i took it in and they replaced the blown capacitor overnight for free. apparently there was a few imac's released with a weak capacitor.
