SOLVED Zero Percent Charge Still Working

M

Hardware: Macbook Pro Retina 13-inch mid 2014
macOS: Mojave 10.14.4

Problems:
* The battery percentage icon in the top right corner doesn't show up at all.
* Checking the "energy saver" section of the settings says my battery percentage is at 0% constantly.
* Charging cable doesn't light up orange or green, even with a brand new cable that has never been used before.
* When the lid is shut, the computer doesn't go to sleep like it did before.
* Immediately after starting up, the computer fan is very loud, consistently, even with not a single application open.

How this happened:
Charging cable got caught in the metal parts of a reclining chair, and I think it broke and some wire might have touched it. Right away the computer shut off and these problems are happening when they weren't before.

Also, the computer still works fine when not attached to the power cable.

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like the cable was damaged, and may have shorted something out.

Try an SMC and NVRAM reset and see if things return to normal with the new cable.
