Can anyone please tell me if the 'X-Plane 9' installation disks I have will work on my new MacBook Pro- M1-16"- 2021?

I am asking as the "LG Slim Portable external DVD Writer" I have, will not work on the new Mac, so I can't test the software until I buy a new player.

Also, if anyone can advise on a disk player that will work on the new M1, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks,

John

Hello and welcome.

The system requirements for X-Plane 9 are as follows:
  • Mac OS X version 10.4 or later
  • 2GHz processor
  • 1.0GB RAM (physical memory)
  • 32MB VRAM (video memory on your video card)
  • 10GB of hard drive space
Because this was released so long ago, I highly doubt it will even let you install it on an M1 Mac. Honestly, it would be best to contact X-Plane Support directly, to get an official compatibility answer about X-Plane 9/10/11 on an M1 Mac running macOS Monterey.

Nurgle2024 answered your other post about a compatible optical drive.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Cory.
I am unhappy about spending all that money on X-Plane 9 plus a huge amount on my new MBP M1 16" and can't use it!

If fact, there are quite a few things about the new MBP that give me problems I can't resolve.

Thanks anyway for your help,

John
