heres my situation, im not sure if it will help but i have an e-mac with a 75 gig hard drive. i was using the disk utility to erase "free space" when it froze, leaving me with literally zero memory. in my horrible attempt to fix the problem, i deleted some files that i really shouldnt have and when restarting my computer, i got the screen you get when turning on a brand new mac.

i had to create a new login and not i cannot go into any of my old files or any of my old login names. they are still there and i have about 400mb of memory, but i cannot even copy them to my new login because of insufficient space. i found the big file that disk utility created (almost 10 gigs), but now i do not have "sufficient privilages" to go to it and delete it. any way i will ever be able to login to my old account??? thanks for the help
