Transfer itunes library to new computer

I have my itunes library on my Windows desktop computer and I want to transfer it to my new macBook Pro (Mac OS X, version 10.6.7).

I don't understand the message about synching and do not want to lose everything. Anyone have an idiot's guide for doing this.

I don't know if it's an idiot's guide, but I used the instructions from the Apple support page. I actually transferred my library to an external drive, but the articles addresses several options.
