- no problem with Normal and Best. The problem is the same regardless of the software I am using. Has been like for years through numerous upgrades etc...I can move the pointer to Draft (which is NOT greyed out), but it refuses to stay there. The printer is a Canon Pixma. The computer is Catalina 10.15.7

Hello and welcome.

It is a fairly well-known issue about the non-working draft mode on Canon printers with macOS.

Can you upload a few screenshots of the print dialog box(es) that have the draft setting?

OK, thanks.

As I mentioned, people have been having this issue for years with Canon printers.

May change it back to the Standard preset, or create a new one?

This is the drop-down menu for Presets....and the window I get if I choose Show Presets.

OK, thanks.

I would try Default Settings and see if that makes a difference. You could also make a new preset, and change settings in Media & Quality and see what happens.

I have tried those suggestions......no change. I guess, as you say, it's a Canon glitch, and I'm stuck with it until I change printer!
Thanks for the help....

Yes, it is a well-known issue. But, I did find this too...maybe it will help?

Canon Community - Draft Mode?

Maybe it has something to do with AirPrint as mentioned, or you could try the Canon Support phone number listed there?

Be well,

Fixed! I phoned Canon (BTW the number in that article is outdated). The driver needed to be updated. Apparently, every time Mac does a major update, some Canon printers do not automatically update to follow - so it reverts to the AirPrint driver, as the old Canon driver is wiped. Anyway, simple solution - update driver!
Thanks

Excellent...glad it's resolved.

I guess the article was on the right track about AirPrint.

Stay healthy and safe!
