Hello all, great site. I've just purshased my first mac powerbook 17" :). Its been an amazing ride thus far. I've come across something that I cannot fix. Every time I start a terminal session either from scratch or start one from the terminal menu, Terminal automatically runs a command which is sudo rm /some/file/I/deleted/awhile/ago and I get presented with the password prompt for sudo. When I control+c it kills the command and everything works fine but it still happens on every terminal. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there !

try and delete the Terminal preference file...

Users-->Your username-->Library-->Preferences--> com.apple.Terminal.plist

Quit out of terminal then throw that file in the trash...

then open Terminal again...

You could also check Terminal's preferences to see if any thing has changed from the default...

Should look like this, but probably a different colour ;-)

If this is any different then that's the culprit...

Glad you like your new Mac !

Ric,

Thanks for the help! The first suggestion did the trick.

try and delete the Terminal preference file...

Users-->Your username-->Library-->Preferences--> com.apple.Terminal.plist

Thank you

No problem !

the plist files are sometimes the best place to start, if any application is misbehaving then throw the preference file (plist) away and see how it works.

Is this your first 'Mac' or your first PowerBook or (maybe both!) ?

yep this is my first powerbook. My first computer was an apple II igs no hard drive, no modem, ah the 80's so I dont really count it in the "mac" category. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the apple side of the world. Thanks again for the help.
