System erased

When installing leopard I clicked a button that needed to erase something on my hard drive to continue the installation. Unknowingly it turned out to be a request to erase the existing hard drive in total including all my files, programs, music, photos, docs etc. Is this information something that can be recovered using a program or do I need to turn the computer over to a data recovery company? Thanks for your help.

And you did not have a back-up? I'm not sure about recovery of an erased drive. If you erased the HD, you might need to take your Mac in to see if an authorized dealer can recover your files.
