Some sound not working

Sound from the internet and it seems applications I've downloaded such as games is not working. I've checked system preferences to see if anything might be turned off, but there's not as far as I can see. Alerts and applications like iTunes and Garage Band all work.

I know my computer is a little cluttered. Could this be the problem?
Does anybody have a possible solution to my problem?

Any help is appreciated. This is really driving me crazy.

This is a very odd thing ... can you give a specific game or website that has no sound and can you tell me the full specs of your Mac ... When did this issue become apparant?
