Shared notes don't update consistently

I have several notes in the Notes app that are shared with my wife. Grocery lists, and other kinds of things. When one of us updates the note, sometimes the changes don't show up in the other's copy of the note. Or the changes are garbled or incomplete. This is an ongoing problem, and it's very frustrating. Can anyone give me some advice about why this is happening, and how I can fix it? We both have iPhone SE 3 running iOS 17.1. The problem has been ongoing through several iOS upgrades. I've asked this question here before, but haven't yet been able to resolve the problem. Please help if you can. Thanks.
