Setting Default Program

Pretty much a newbie to Mac, so please bare with me. I am attempting to reset the default program to watch videos. When I go to options it gives me a choice to always open with the program of my choice. I can watch a video once with my choice, but the next time I try to watch a different video Mac reverts back to its default. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello.

To change the default app for all files of a certain type:

1. Right-click or Option-click the file you want to open
2. Select Get Info
3. In the Open With: section, click on the application name that is currently assigned
4. Select the application that you would like to assign to files of that type
5. Click the Change All... button
6. Click Continue in the window that pops up

That should assign all files of that type with the same extension to open with the app that you selected.
