search bar won't load

I'm going to college and I brought my laptop and my desktop, both macs. Except the internet speed on my desktop is extremely slow, but my laptop works fine, both are connected to the ethernet port divider. I've tried changing the ethernet cord and the ethernet port but it hasn't done anything. Things that wont work is google (it take 15 minutes to even load), and if you try typing a website in the address bar, that won't work either. I usually use safari and it will work for some things, but firefox won't work either. Ive cleared my history, cache and all that other stuff but it hasn't worked, Please help!!!
