Screen Capture Problem

Until I tried today, I had no problems with capturing a screen.
For instance : Cmd/Shift/f4 would capture a portion of the screen and paste the capture on my desktop.

Today.. when I do that, I get the "icon" I drag to capture the desired data
But, it does not paste to the desktop.

Any ideas where it is or why it is not now going to the desktop?

BTW, I am using v 10.11.5 on my Mac

Please forget this request. I rebooted the computer and they popped up on the desktop.
