i mistakenly deleted a bookmark folder in safari, I used time machine to go to 'library, safari, to restore the "bookmarks.plist".
All works well at first and the lost bookmarks folder is restored and usable. Then suddenly it just disappears again.
I am at a loss to understand why this happens and how to fix it.

Hello,

-Which version of OS X/macOS?
-How many Time Machine backups do you have access to?
-Are you syncing your Safari Bookmarks with iCloud?

Hi Cory, thats for the help....

Latest versions on all my Apple products.
guess at 12 months, probably more
Yes Safari bookmarks are synced in iCloud, (as is almost everything else).

My MacBook does NOT use Time machine for backup.

Hmmm...

Did the folder delete from all of you devices I assume?

Maybe try quitting Safari and restoring the Bookmarks.plist file again, then immediately open Safari and Export Bookmarks. You may then be able to reimport them, then reorganize them as needed.

Interesting......
Yes it deleted or didn't even appear on all devices.
I'll give that a try thanks Cory.

No worries.

You may want to turn off Wi-Fi first, so it doesn't try to sync while you are restoring/exporting.
