I am using Adobe Bridge CS 6 on my Mac Mini (OS X 10.10.5). Just starting today when I try to open Bridge I get an error message which advises me to 'purge the central cache in Cache Preferences. I do not know how to do this and I am unable to find anything labeled 'Cache Preferences."

The Mac OS, together with applications, maintain various cache files. This link discusses that cache file for Adobe Bridge CS4 and CS5:

https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/cache-bridge-cs4-cs5.html

Not sure if it's the same for CS6, but it should be. If it is, then according to taht article, that central cache file would be located in:

/Users/[User name]/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge C6[version number]/Cache/full

This link contains all the "hits" via a google search for "Adobe Bridge CS6 on a Mac and cache files":

Thank you, Mr. Honestone for steering me in the right direction. At least at present it is working and I'll save one of the links you provided so that if the problem occurs again, I might be able to fix it w/o bothering. I very much appreciate your kind assistance.
