Mac Mini, late 2012, running OS X 10.8.5. When you click on "About this Mac", and then "More info", and then "Startup Items", it says "nothing found".

However, after a complete shutdown when ever you start up, Spotify starts up, Word starts up, A software application from work starts up, and maybe sometimes, something else.

What gives?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When you restart/shut down, have you tried unchecking the box in the dialog that says "Reopen windows when logging back in"? The Mac will reopen any apps that were open unless you uncheck this.

Thank you Cory. The box was checked. Most often something simple.

Cory, I unchecked the boxes at both the Restart and the Shut Down menu. Turned on today, and a pdf document opened, then Word, the Spotify, and then something else. ??
