Photos Program for Easy Scrolling

I hope the title makes sense.

I use a 27" iMac and have hundreds of photos of Parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials and at present I have to open them individually to make a search which is slow and time consuming so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a program I can download so I can upload them all and just scroll through them easily.

I use Preview for this. I select a group of images, right click and select 'Open with' ,select Preview.app

Hello,

If you have the photos in folders, you can use QuickLook to look through them without opening them: Quick Look files and folders. Or, you can switch your Finder view to the CoverFlow view:

You can then scroll through them and organize them as you wish.
