Permission changed

I'm scanning photos to an SD card. I create folders on the SD card to hold the items as they are scanned (to keep things tidy) but suddenly it won't allow me to do anything except write to it. I can't create any new folder, nor delete any content. The File>Get Info pane tells me I can only read, with no options to change anything - no lock or anything.
I don't know how or why it changed - is the SD card possibly just damaged?

Doh!

I just realised the SD card has a little locking latch which has clearly moved during an insert/remove operation. Works now!
