I am new to the "Mac thing" and have a problem. I got a G4 Sawtooth a while ago and just recently got a 12"Powerbook G4. In an attempt to speed up the Powermac, I installed an OWC Extreme cpu. I checked and have the proper boot rom firmware and have reset the PRAM. When I try to reboot, I get the Apple logo for a while with the spinning progress dial and then, in place of the Apple, I get a circle with a bar through it. I tried to reinstall OSX but the machine will not boot to the CD/DVD. I then tried reinstalling the old cpu but it makes no difference, same result.
Have I cooked my Powermac? Any help would be appreciated.
