I've got a 2014 era MacBook pro. I recently upgraded my OS to 10.15.7 the max they will allow me to upgrade to. This jas totally screwed me. My office suite has been disabled and I can't fix it unless I go to OS 12, which apple won't let me do. I know it an old laptop but it still works great so why replace it

Any advice?

Hello and welcome.

Which version of Microsoft Office are you running?

You may be in a tough spot because of the age of the Mac, macOS, and Microsoft Office.

The Late 2013 and 2014 MBPs are able to support up to macOS 11.7.10 Big Sur. Early 2013 MBPs will only go to macOS 10.15.7 Catalina.

You may be looking at the following options:
  • Revert your Mac to the last compatible version of macOS/Office that you were running previously
  • Purchase a newer Mac
  • Try an alternative for Office - like Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, Apple's Pages/Numbers/Keynote, or LibreOffice or OpenOffice

I had this problem when I got my M2 Mac mini (Sonoma) when I migrated my old software over, my office apps were not able to run. I used OpenOffice for a day or two, which worked fine. I then found MS Office 2021 for macOS @ £10.85, on Etsy. Very quick and easy to install and all working well.
