I have been trying to work out how to get OS 10.5 off an existing Macbook onto one with a new (totally blank) hard drive. I've backed up on two different external hard drives but can't boot from them. I've tried using TimeMachine and by creating a disk image of the MB with the OS installed. It feels like I get close but reach a point where I can't go any further. I did succeed in getting the OS from the intact MB to mirror onto the one with the new hard drive by tethering the two via firewire but couldn't manage to transfer anything. This is a 2007 machine and I can't bring myself to shell out the dollars to buy the OS outright.
Can this even be done?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
