Hello,

I've been having some issues with fonts lately so I turned off all my fonts
(using font book) which didn't fix the issue so I removed all my fonts from
my systems fonts folder and now my Operating system doesn't boot up.
I've tried holding down my Shift button and still nothing. I'm travelling overseas
at the moment so I don't have my original startup disk with me and the guys
down at the genius bar at the apple centre want o charge me £90 for a new
disk.

Does anyone have any alternate options available.

Kind regards

Christopher

Hi there,

without the system disk you are a bit stuck...

Personally I would go back into the Apple Store and try a different person !

One who looks a bit more helpful !

It would only take them 10 minutes or so to stick in one of their OS disks and either copy the fonts back across or do an archive and install for you...

Have a Google for a local Mac User Group (MUG) maybe if you ge in touch with them they maybe able to help...

The only other option is to buy the disk, sorry !

regards

The fonts in your System > Fonts folder are required by the OS. They can't be deleted, or you'll get the symptoms you are experiencing.

Luck,

C
