The 'new' iTunes update on my iPhone loaded very nicely. However, since the time of installing the 'updated version' I am unable to connect to the download site that has served me quite well since I invested in the phoneand 'instruct me to onnect to Canadian iTunes site for apps for which I have received notification of there being an update. (IOW... I have, apparently, been connectng to the US for updates in the past... without my knowledge?) Now.... being well into the 'senior citizen' age range I may no longer be the 'sharpest knife in the drawer'.... but it seems that if Apple wants me to change the download 'source', they might have at least indicate how to get there by the easiest, trouble free route.

Hi Ken,

As you know the Apple App stores are country specific, IE the Canadian App stores holds different content than the USA one. So if you live in Canada I am mystified how you download from the USA site, ( unless Apple did some duel organisation regarding the two sites) having said that your phone should notify you when updates are available so all you have to do is open your App Store App and click update.
Bottom line is you can't change country App stores on you phone or Mac, example being if I am in Switzerland on my UK MacBook I can open the French App Store and view its contents but can not download any apps, this is also the same for iTunes vouchers they to are country specific.

I take it that you live in Canada? If so I to am stumped.

Thank you... I guess this means either a call to Apple Canada or a trip down town to the place where I purchased it. I must admit I am somewhat 'stumped' as to how Apple Canada would tell me there was an iTunes update... invite me to 'upgrade to the new version and then allow me to download one from Apple US.

Hi Ken,

Yes me to it is very odd, would be interesting if after your phone call or down town excursion, you posted back as to the explanation and remedy.

It was somewhat 'interesting'. Took a quick trip downtown.... According to the Apple re-seller from where I purchased my Mac, it was an 'Unknown problem' but not quite as 'unknown' as some of the problems that we Mac users have with my ISP/telephone company in the past year or so. My ISP seems to be somewhat 'non-Mac centric'... something that has caused me considerable problems with sending email that is extremely time sensitive... ie getting an electronic copy of a 3000 word document into a professor's mailbox before a midnight deadline.. and handing in the hard copy the next day (I am earning my part-time degree in my retirement). However... even with my ISP's 'delays' (ie my wife was out with the iPhone and it took just over an hour longer for the same message to arrive on my desktop mail).... now that I've got access to Apple Canada on my Mac (having now changed to a new ID and passwords) I shall take a 'stress' break... and seek an answer from them on the telephone tomorrow. It might just be a case of deleting the current iTunes app (which has a proven record of letting me know when app updates are available and has downloaded and installed these updates). It may be a case of my having to download a 'new' version of the iTunes app.

I shall update when everything is (hopefully) working again.... I never had these types of problems with my old Mac SE (and 'noisy' dial-up) that is still (quietly) sitting down on a shelf in my darkroom.

Hi Ken,

Truth be told I am still baffled as to how this store crossover could happen, thanks for the update. And looking forward to your next post how you resolve this.

Now Up and Running

This morning, I am now within the bounds of being what one might term "A Happier Camper"

I had to go through the rigmarole of making changes to both Apple ID and Password... now there's a frustration I do not look forward to having to experience again.... She Who Must Be Obeyed was 'out' with the iPhone... I had to make the changes via my Mac and my ISP's land-line connection. Can you spell S...... L...... O...... W ?

On her return home... my wife reported the relative short time between Apple's and my iPhone, but it was taking over an hour for the same 'reply' from Apple coming to my MacBook air via my land line.... so I made the required changes on the iPhone. Methinks it might be time to contact my ISP and inquire (again) about the reason for the extended time delay 'difference'.

On making the 'changes' and then hitting the 'update notification' the first time, a similar message about having to make a 'country' change started to come up... and then... immediately switched to the Canadian 'source'... and the updates were successfully downloaded and installed.
