Need help with video playback

I have been having trouble with video playback on my MacBook, running on OSX. When playing videos through both iTunes and iPlayer Desktop, after about ten minutes the video and audio starts to get choppy and unwatchable. I don't know if anyone has any tips or an idea of why it's happening! Thanks very much.
