Need help transferring files from a Vista PC to a Leopard Mac

I have turned on sharing for both computers, they are on the same wireless network, and I have even plugged an ethernet cable into both of them directly, and they just do not see each other. I also can't find version specific advice. Can anyone help me transfer a lot of files from my old PC to my new-to-me old Mac? Thanks in advance.

theres your problem...

Mac network easily and effortless.

Fastest, Easiest way, take the drive out of the PC and put it in a USB2 or FireWire enclosure.
