I hope that you can offer insight on an issue that I just noticed on my macbookpro. I'm not a tech wiz by any means so forgive my ignorance. The issue is that I have recently noticed that when i write a new email the window opens in a very large size, opening a new firefox window too. Also my desktop icons seem to have been rearranged and overlapped on some. Could this be a virus??? What do you reccomend? I have a 2.16 Ghz Intel core 2 duo with 1gb 667 MHz ram.

One more thing, when I email from apple mail, I need to close the email and open it again before the mail is sent. The email sits in the outbox for awhile unless I do this. Strange. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there and welcome,

straight forward one first...the desktop icons generally move around like that after you havebeen playing a game which alters the screen resolution. Do you play games? Has the resolution changed recently?

Next, can you describe exactly how you start a new mail message... I'm intrigued by it opening Firefox. (ie do you click command + n or use the menu etc)

Can you go to Mail Mail->Preferences->Rules tab and see if there are any "Rules" setup.

Thanks Ric,

I did use my macbook to view football games through my Large screen TV so that would explain the rearranged icons.

As for the mail issue, I may not have explained properly. When I open mail and write a new email the new message window appears really big, like it extends past the screen size. I also encounter a looooong delay with the message sitting in the outbox. I close mail and reopen and then the message sends. It does not open firefox at all. I have a similar issue with firefox though. When i open another window it opens it very large and off part of the screen. Any thoughts??

No problem,

Click the button to write a new email, then click the green button to bring the window back to fill the screen...then just drag in the corner a bit. This will now stop new "New mails" being big. Same should work with the Firefox window...

Have a looksy here.

regards

Ric
