My finder can't see my wife's computer anymore

My wife’s iMac and my iMac used to see each other’s shared drives in finder.


I’m not sure when this stopped, but this week her computer updated to Big Sur. Mine is too old for that upgrade, so it is still in Catalina.

Both of our Finder system preferences include “Connected servers” and “Bonjour computers” checked. We are both connected to the same Wi-Fi. Both of our computers have File Sharing checked. My sharing has everyone for Read Only. Her sharing has selected folders to give me Read and Write. Both of our computers can print to the Wi-Fi printer. I used AirDrop to move a file from one computer to the other.

Any ideas what I need to try next?

Hi,

I have seen this issue as well...items in Locations > Netowrk appear/disappear at random. Normally, a restart will fix it temporarily. I haven't found a permanent solution as of yet.

I did restart both of our computers. No sign of shared drives on either computer.

Maybe something "restrictive" in Big Sur? Were things fine before your wife upgraded to Big Sur?

I believe so. But it is possible that I never noticed this issue.
