So...........

I install the software updates that pop up in software updater (a Java one, a security one, idvd and quicktime) now i have to restart my mac, which i do. But when i log in, there is no info in my menu bar as to battery status, time date, airport etc.

So i go into system preferences and tell it to put them there..............and it doesn't!

What could be the problem......what can I do?

Hello Niall and Welcome!

Sometimes after installing software updates or installing anything can cause some files to act up. It usually can be fixed my repairing disk permissions. Go into your applications folder and go to Utilities. Open Disk Utility. Select your system drive and click repair disk permissions. Once that's done, restart your computer.

Let us know if this works for you.
