macOS Catalina - Mail > Preferences

I've just downloaded macOS Catalina on to my MacBook Pro 13" (I think its a late 2012 purchase). The download and installation went though quite well. But I have been unable to change fonts in Mail, but I am unable to view Preferences under Mail. When I click on Mail>Preferences, all I get to see is an empty box titled 'Signatures'. And, even this box is unresponsive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

I don't have access to a Mac running Catalina as of yet. I will see if I can get it installed here.

In the meantime, do you have a Time Machine or other backup of your data?

I have not experienced this in Catalina, the only problem I encountered was that I was unable to erase Junk or deleted items. I managed to solve this when I noticed that I was not logged into iCloud, when I logged in everything worked as expected.
