does anybody have a fix for the problem i have. i have a macbook 2009 with a non functioning superdrive. i have an external superdrive i removed from a macbook 2009 with a screwed motherboard, when i plug the external superdrive into the macbook...... nada. nothing. i have tried editing the dvd player file (credit to ..Macenstein.com) but i get the message , there was an initalisation error. a valid DVD drive could not be found. (-70012) , any ideas or tips would be much apreciated, my mac is very important to me and if i can fix it myself it would save me a great deal of money. cheers paul

Hello and welcome.

-Is the SuperDrive in an external case?
-Is it from the exact same model?
-Could it have been damaged as well when the logic board in the previous machine failed?

I don't recommend editing system files like the directions you followed from Macenstein.
