Hey Guys,

I've just started having an issue where my MAC is crashing. At first I was trying to see if there was a pattern such that I could isolate one thing that is causing it to fail. When I say fail I mean FAIL. THe machine shuts off. To me that feels more like hardware failure than anything but this is not my expertise so I thought I would reach out to the community.

When I start he machine back up I am able to send a crash report. There are a lot of details but this looks like the most relevant information --

The references to GPU and NVidia... does this mean that I have a problem with the video that might be causing this failure?

Hello and welcome.

Sorry we didn't get back to you sooner. From the log, that is a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010), correct?

It could be related to the dual graphics chips in that model. Have you tried switching between the NVDIA discrete and built-in Intel graphics?
Set graphics performance on MacBook Pro

It could also be software related:
You are running OS X El Capitan 10.11.2, correct?
-Do you have any anti-virus or third-party utilities such as MacKeeper or CleanMyMac installed?
-What login items are listed in System Preferences... > Users & Groups > your user account > Login Items?
-Did the crashing start after a recent software install or OS X upgrade?

You could try downloading the OS X 10.11.2 Combo Update and installing it over the top of your current installation.
