Mac Mail - messages disappearing from Inbox

Messages in my inbox disappear after approx 7 days - why is this and how can I change the settings to enable me to see messages in my inbox that were received more than 7 days ago?

-Are you using the Apple Mail application?
-Is the email account setup as POP or IMAP?

what mail account are you using? Is that an exchange or a common mail domain? Exchange environments are more prone to such incidents. You can talk with your admin for the same. To save your mails, you cna archive them to your local system. I was recommended Mail Backup X from this forum itself and that worked for me.
