Lost password to encrypted .dmg

I stumbled upon an old disk image I had on my HD that I had encrypted, which I figured would be fun to peruse through. Unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten the password. I sort of remember it, or at least the gist of it, but passwords are a horseshoes and hand grenades kinda thing, obv. Is there pretty much no hope of accessing this dmg, or are there some clever little hacks I might be able to do to get at the encrypted files?

I have never heard of any hacks to retrieving a password to an encrypted .dmg file. In fact, there is one of the secure ways that Apple and other sites suggest for files in a laptop. Without that password, I'm afraid you cannot access those files.
