LaCie Thunderbolt 3TB external HD won't show up on desktop

I have a 15" Retina Macbook Pro, running Sierra 10.12.5 and suddenly my main disk a LaCie Thunderbolt 3TB external HD does not show up on the desktop. Disk Utility doesn't recognize it.
All of my video and photo files are on the 3TB drive, and it is critical that I get it working again. Who has some tips or experience about this dilemma? I need help urgently, thank you very much!

I would try rebooting with the drive connected or otherwise have you tried a different cable?
