IPhoto Photos Too Dark

All iPhoto pictures are too dark. Photos in other applications such as Firefox or Craigs List are OK.
Is this something that I can adjust?
The computer is a Mac laptop with 10.4.ll.

If you highlight a photo in the iPhoto Library window and press Return, the edit options should appear. Here you can adjust brightness etc. If Return doesn't bring the Edit options up, they can be found in the Menubar or via a button along the bottom of the iPhoto Library window somewhere.
