Hello, my iPad Pro 11 inch has been great, but recently it stopped charging with a USB-C to USB-C cable. It still charges with a USB-A to USB-C cable, although sometimes I have to flip the USB-C connector to get it to work.

I've tested the USB-C to USB-C cables on other devices, and they work fine, so it's not the cable or the adapter. It seems like the iPad is somehow rejecting the USB-C to USB-C connection. Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution? It's really frustrating because I know the issue isn't with the cable, power adapter, or the iPad's connector hardware. Any advice would be appreciated.

It might be a software issue, have you tried restarting your iPad or checking for any software updates? Sometimes a fresh start can fix these weird problems. If that doesn’t help, it could be worth visiting an Apple Store or contacting support to see if they can diagnose the issue.

Given what you say about "flipping" the connector I think it's most likely a bad connection issue. Are you using third party cables? If so you're more likely to have problems but even if they're Apple they can still die on you.
It's really just a process of elimination to work out what's at fault, cable/connector/outlet/input.

Hi, I’m having the same exact issues. It seems like a lot of people are having this issue if you look at the Apple forums. For me, I can only get it to charge using a regular USB cable, not USB-C, and that’s only sometimes. Furthermore, my iPad won’t recognize anything that I tried plugging into it. I use my iPad for music production heavily and it doesn’t recognize my audio interface, nor any other audio intrrface that I try, not even headphones. it’s extremely frustrating and seemed to happen out of the blue. I hope to find a solution soon.

Hi. I am having the same issue. I was wondering if a wireless charger would work? Mine seemed to happen out of the blue I only use it at night. So, it's not been in or near water. It just stays at my bedside. I have tried a new cable and a new plug. I have tried turning it off and rebooting. I cleaned it off. I haven't added any apps or programs to the ipad pro. I didn't try flipping the connector but I will do that now. any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds like the issue might be with your iPad’s USB-C port or settings. First, clean the port to ensure there’s no dust or debris. Then, try resetting all settings on the iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings) and make sure your iPad is running the latest iOS version. Test other USB-C cables and power sources to rule out compatibility issues. If the problem persists, try a soft reset (holding Power and Volume Down together for 10 seconds). If none of these steps work, it could be a hardware issue, and contacting Apple Support might be necessary.

I think you should try a soft reset first. A full reset will take you days to recover from, I know it does for me and in my experience is unlikely to fix the problem. There seems to be an inordinately large number of users with the same problem which really suggests this is a problem best taken to Apple.
Do make a full backup to iCloud first, if possible.
I note that some users have reported that a USB-A to USB-C cable sometimes works where a USB-C to USB-C cable has failed. Certainly worth trying but it suggests there was something wrong with the USB-C to USB-C.
Some iPads can be charged wirelessly but that is just a short term solution.

Then, try resetting all settings on the iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
sam1234444, I notice you have given the above advice to a few users on this forum, it's a little like Apple's Help Line advising Mac users to just Reinstall their Operating System, a rather broad brush approach.

Resetting All Settings means all of your Bluetooth links are lost, you will have to reset Face ID and or Finger Print ID, most of your third party apps which use Biometrics will now require login with password and setup with Biometrics again, all of your custom folders will be lost and all of your apps with the exception of native ones will be on multiple Desktops in alphabetical order. The Control Centre will return to Default setup, custom actions for the side button will be lost, Notifications will often all be in the on position and you will require your User Identification code just to login to the Phone to begin with. In other words everything you have modified in Apple Settings will be undone.
In addition; all settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—will be removed or reset to their defaults.
It may also include Accessibility Settings which could prove a real problem for some. I don't use any so I'm not sure but it's likely.

You could of course restore the iPhone/iPad from local or iCloud backup but you run the risk of restoring the problem.

So, I just feel that we ought to warn users of this prior to advising what will be for some a very time consuming, challenging re-setup of their iPhone.
