iOS i-phone & i-pad batteries

With all the brouhaha about the 'guilty' Apple company making our i-phomes obsolete by their wicked re-jigging of our iOS software so that the ageing battery will last longer, has anyone noticed any comment about the same iOS on our i-pads? None that I have come across but it is of note that a few months ago my i-pad mini was frequently warm after usage and during charging. Now it behaves normally and cooly. There's got to be an explanation.
