IMAC running OSX Yosemite V.10.10.5 problems with Audio Devices

All is running fine except my Built-in Output is not working. I have gone into Audio MIDI Setup and selected Built-in-Output, however the right hand side bottom is greyed out. it is not allowing me to increase the Value or dB (volume). No problem on the Built-in Input. How do I correct this. Explanation on upgrade: leaving it as it is so I can still run my Adobe suite that I purchased in 2010.

  • Do you have anything connected to the audio output jack?
