ibook crashed, please help

My wife has a G3 ibook and she was ichating with her daughter in Japan. The sound was low so I decided to hook up an external speaker. This AC speaker has two jacks, on for input and one that should go to the second speaker. I inserted the jack that should have gone to the second speaker into the iBooks speaker jack and the screen went black. It won't restart. All I get is a little bell sound. Please help me.

Hi there and welcome,

try taking the battery out and leaving for an hour then try and boot again.

I would be surprised if the external speakers had 'blown' the iBook...

Is the Mac under warranty still or Applecare ?
