O.K. I've been a Mac user way too long. When I saw the title of your thread, I envisioned you typing away in a dark basement, longing for the sunlight...

I kind of feel like the bus driver going there and back all the time, but no, I haven't seen anyone selling tickets the other way. I figure Stevie's RDF (reality distortion field) makes too many wanting to stay for there to be any profit in such a business.

(Did I just bash the mac and its users? It's just a playful jab in case anyone takes it the wrong way... I truthfully enjoy the break on both ends of the trip)

HAHAHA!!! YES!! That made my morning!!

I have gone completely windowless. The only thing that I would use windows for now is for online music videos and such.

Granted...I grew up with windows, but I was getting sick and tired of dumping lots of money into my windows machines and not getting the results I've wanted. I was running five firewalls and four anti virus programs (not at once since they would conflict with each other) and my computers still crashed. I am not a computer dummy. I know how to take care of them. But I have accomplished more things in my 1.5 years of owning a mac than in my 16 years of using windows.

I have noticed....the more knowledge people have about computers, the easier it is for them to switch. However, Apple offers free workshops for switchers and anyone who wants to know more about the programs on their mac. Apple also has Procare. This allows you to get one on one training with a creative specialist who will show you anything you want to know about any apps on the mac plus the Pro Apps. (I know this because I am a ProCare member.) So, from my point of view at least, Apple does try to help people who are new to the OS and Mac.

I guess my big point is that if I can help 90 year old people learn how to use a computer, anyone can learn. As for windows, I have been there. Windows drives me nuts. The only way I would go back to windows is if I started building my own PCs again. Even then, I would probably run Linux, preferably Ubunto.

I am not trying to bash the windows users or people who like windows, rather I am sharing my experiences with windows and my reasons for switching. It's not a personal attack on you, Bluekatt

Sorry about the essay.

Cheers
