How do I place a lock on the trash?

I need help please. I am unable to find any clear instructions on this. I want to place a lock on my trash so that it asks for a password if I want to actually empty the trash.

Hello and welcome.

I don't know of any way to do this. You can have Finder prompt you before emptying the trash, as set in Finder > Preferences > Advanced > "Show warning before emptying the Trash".

-If I may ask, for what reason do you want to do this?
-If your Mac is used by others, have them login as the Guest User and they cannot delete anything without entering an admin username/password.
